Winterball 2012 <3
1.21.2012.
Super busy day from the beginning. I got up at 5:00 a.m. to prep for BPA stuff, take a shower, and get all my things for the day ready. I went to Melia’s house at 7:30 and chilled there for another half hour before we finally left for Frisco. I almost wasn’t able to print out my resume, but my mom emailed it to me, so yay :]
Frisco is freaking far. And beautiful. The houses and gas stations and everything are all made of beautiful stone. And everything was so clean and nice and bright :] One of the middle schools is probably already bigger than GHS. Heritage High School, the school where the competition was, was really huge too. Mel and I chilled for a bit before we actually had to go compete. We did pretty well, I thought, but the judges had poker faces while we presented and that was a little bit intimidating.
After we competed, I had my interview skills competition. I got to the room twenty minutes early, which was really lucky because apparently they were running ahead of schedule. I was really nervous, and they asked me what the name of the company was. I totally blanked, but I had a really good save. I’m glad I at least got some exposure to the interview environment. Then Mel and I went to McDonald’s and back to her house.
We were in the middle of curling our hair when mr. Singleton called and said we made it to finals and that we had to be back at 2:30. We almost didn’t go, but Melia talked to her mom and we kind of felt guilty.
Hair half curled. 45 minute drive back. 1 hour of waiting for a judge who was late. Another hour waiting for the first two groups to present. Our presentation station wasn’t working at first. Points off. We didn’t have the statement of originality. More points off. Needless to say, it did not go so well the second time, but the judges did have some really nice comments. We placed in 5th, so we’re not going to State this year. Oh well, it was in Dallas anyway.
Afterwards, we went back to Melia’s house, where I finished curling my hair. Her mommy did my make up <3 I had some dress malfunctions because the dress was kind of loose. But I love that dress, it’s gorgeous <33 Stan came while we were getting ready, and Jay was late ish. We finally got to take pictures, and then we left for the dance.
Very interesting car ride on the way to the dance. I was happy when we finally got to winterball. We sat around for a bit before we decided to dance. Jay said my dress was too long, and that I should tie it up =)) The DJ kept overlapping songs, which really bothered me. We danced for a little bit before the parents got all prissy and told us to stop. Eh. We left after an hour of being at the dance. It was fun, and I didn’t really want to leave, but I had fun with Stan, Mel, and Jay afterwards.
We chilled at Ihop before Jay’s dad came to pick him up. Then Melia and Stan dropped me off at Sali’s, where the asians were.
That was fun too :D
Ended the night with Brandon and Jbo taking me home. I pretty much passed out when I got to my room.
Winterball 2012 wasn’t what I expected. But it was fun anyway :]
